If you were to die whilst in employment before claiming benefits from the scheme we will pay a lump sum of at least four times your final average pay. If you work part-time hours the lump sum is reduced depending upon the number of hours you work. You can check how much it would be with the Customer Services Team, just call 0800 2 343434.
To avoid inheritance tax and delay in payment you can nominate to the Trustee to whom you would like the lump sum to be paid. You can nominate as many people as you like. Otherwise the lump sum will be added to your estate.
The Trustee does not have to follow your wishes but it will take them into account and will look at your personal circumstances at the time you died.
