    About the scheme

  • Leaving work

If you leave work before you take payment of your benefits, the benefit you receive will depend upon the rules of your section. Most sections allow you to leave your benefits in the Scheme or to transfer them out to another approved pension scheme. Some sections now pay refunds to members who have less than two years service.Your Scheme Booklet will tell you the benefits your section provides or you can call the Customer Helpline on 0800 2343434.

Pensions left in the Scheme are paid once you reach normal retirement age (usually age 60). Or you may be able take these early. For more information see Quick Links - Your Benefits.
