  • Pension Service website is closing

    As part of the government’s drive to improve its online services for citizens, the content of the Pension Service website has moved to one of the main government websites (Directgov and Business Link). The Pension Service website closed at the end of September and information about pensions, retirement and later life has moved to a new area on the Directgov website, including:

    • basic information about pensions;
    • guides, forms, and details of how to make a claim;
    • the pension forecast tool;
    • the pensions age calculator; and
    • all our other services for citizens.

    The new address can navigated to by selecting Quick Links - www.direct.gov.uk

    No services or information have been removed, they are all still available, and over time Directgov will be offering more and more online services. Directgov not only contains all the information you need about pensions, retirement and later life, it also contains information on all other government services all in one place, so you now only need to remember one web address.

    This move is part of the requirement for all government departments to close their old websites and move information for the public to Directgov by 2011. This is a response to the report by Sir David Varney, "Service transformation - a better service for citizens and businesses, a better deal for the taxpayer". The Department for Work and Pensions is one of the first government departments to take this important step towards providing joined-up online services for citizens.
