    About the fund

  • Benefits of membership

    • The British Transport Police Force Superannuation Fund is a first class occupational pension scheme.
    • If you joined the fund before 1st April 2007 your employer pays 60% of the cost of providing the benefits and you pay 40%.
    • If you joined on or after 1st April 2007 your employer pays 67% of the cost of providing the benefits and you pay 33%.
    • To receive comparable benefits from a personal pension arrangement would cost you substantially more per week.
    • The Trustee Company ensures that your benefits are safe and secure.
    • You receive life assurance cover if you die in service.
    • The fund will provide a pension early if you are unable to work because of ill health and you meet certain criteria.
    • As your pensionable earnings increase so do your benefits.
    • You pay lower National Insurance contributions because you are not paying for benefits in the State Earnings Related Pension Scheme.
    • The contributions you pay are tax-free.
