  • Your pension (pre 1 April 2007 joiners)

    The basic aim of the fund is to provide after 30 years' membership, a retirement income at state pension age of two thirds your pensionable salary. Retirement income is made up of a pension from the British Transport Police Force Superannuation Fund and your basic state pension.

    Important notes:

    • When you take yor benefits you can choose to convert some of your pension into lump sum. Each £1 a year pension will buy £13 lump sum.
    • Some members receive increased benefits because of a distribution of surplus.
    • The Inland Revenue limit the amount of pension and lump sum you can take on retirement.
    • If you take your benefits before age 55 they may be reduced if you do not have 30 years' membership.
