    A guide to benefits

  • A guide to benefits

There is much more to your fund than simply providing you with a pension, including:

A lump sum for you at retirement - tax free and in addition to your pension.

Early retirement pensions for ill health - for those who qualify under the fund's medical rules.

Life assurance before retirement - a lump sum and a pension for your dependants and children if you die whilst in service. If you joined the fund on or after 1st April 2007 you need to have more than two years' membership to be eligible for pension, unless you die whilst on duty. In some cases approval from the Management Committee may be required.

Inflation-linked pension increases after you retire.

A guarantee - that, if you die within five years of retirement, your dependants will receive the balance of five years' of your pension, as well as their own dependants' pension.
